Where east and west met hundreds
of years ago...Alavar Seafood Restaurant
was started by Miguel and Teresa Alavar in 1979 after successfully building
up their humble carinderia into a fine dining restaurant. The first
Alavar Restaurant was housed in the ancestral home of Teresa's family in
Cawa-Cawa, Zamboanga. With the help of their eight growing children,
the Alavars operated and managed the restaurant to become one of the best
in Zamboanga. All of us brothers and sisters grew up in the restaurant
business. Instead of playing and socializing after school, we took
turns in working in our parents' restaurant. Knowing how hard they worked
to build it up, we the children, felt it would be a shame if we didn't
do our part to make the business grow. The recipe is a tightly guarded
family secret. It was originally concocted by mother, Teresa who,
together with her husband Miguel, transformed their humble carinderia into
one of Zamboanga's finest restaurant.
